Colour Definitions

Hue:
A given color’s tendency towards any of the four base wavelengths of visible light red, yellow, blue and green. For example, if yellow appears more dominant in an orange-colored ink, then that color orange would be said to have a 
yellowish hue.

Value:

  • Lightness (sometimes called value or tone) is a property of a color, or a dimension of a color space, that is defined in a way to reflect the subjective brightness perception of a color for humans along a lightness–darkness axis. A color's lightness also corresponds to its amplitude.

Chroma:
  • The property of a color that makes it appear saturated, or strongly colored. Black, white, and gray have no chroma. A red tomato is high in chroma. Pastel colors are low in chroma. This attribute of color is used in the LCH (Lightness, Chroma, Hue) color model.
