Exhibition Work

liam asked us to post 4 or more artworks on our blogs for the exhibition.

1. Kids Map

2. Product Design (logo)

3. Future Poster

4. Cd Case

On Monday 17th October, our class had a critique on the business designs we came up with. I believe he liked a high majority of our work and we went fairly well in the design process, most aspects have still to improve but many are at where he believes they should be.

Overall Luke believes our work was consistent throughout all of our designs with the use of colour, layout of the elements and type. Luke liked the shopfronts and thought they were all done to a high standard considering out low – medium knowledge of Photoshop. Luke also mentioned that the class was week in the use of typography, wrong use of body or stylized, sizing and alignment were all major factors.

Luke Liked the overall design of the logo and that I made an alternate favicon logo. I believe I needed to make an alternate logo for the web/media as the current one looked good on paper but didn’t have the same essence on the web. Also because the Assignment sheet stated we needed to present a Black and white alternate, and a full colour; considering the logo I designed used black or white and there was no colour in the logo, I designed an alternate.

Luke Liked my webpage layout besides the fact I used the font from the logo as the body type and the alignment of the centre type shouldn’t be centred (justified or left), and the colour of the main logo was to dark and hard to see. He did like that it looked realistic and had that web feel about it. I liked the webpage as is and now I’ve seen some aspects from a designer’s background I have got a chance to improve and make the next one better.

The 3D point of sale item I believe I could have done better. It didn’t have much thought put into it and also didn’t put much thought into the presentation of it either. Luke liked the design but suggested next time I get it made or make it myself so it’s a physical item. He also mentioned that it has to be something special, something original, the record disk had an element of that and if I put more thought into it may have worked.

With the shopfront he liked the overall design of it but seen the inconsistency with the colouring of the logo’s (black and white versions in different places). With a little more planning and preparation I believe I would have noticed such a small mistake and fixed it accordingly.

The brochure design didn’t have as much thought put into it as I believe I should of which showed through the design. The typography was a major flaw concerning the sizing and use of the logo’s typeface as the body font. Luke did like the slanted and transparent logo on the back but believe that in needed more spacing between the edge of the paper and the items.
In all the class did fairly well and has learnt some valuable lessons for next time.

FLASH: Game Ideas

For Flash class we have to create a flash game with Liam's guidance.
Side Scrolling Survival Shooter
- Multiple weapons (5-10)
- Multiple Enemy Types (3-6)
- Multiple levels to choose from(2-5)
- Multiple characters to choose from.
Gameplay elements:
- Waves of enemy's will spawn off screen and walk in trying to kill the main player
- Weapons placed on maps at start and will re-spawn after 2-5 minutes depending on type/power
- Score is kept for both enemy's killed (multi kills,bonus multipliers/dividers) and Wave count
Overall goal is to survive as long as possible.

CUVCOR04B - Meetings with the client

In the first meeting with jarrod i showed him the logo concepts and the start of the original webpage. of all the logos i had he liked the simple KR (the K is backwards) the best which is what he has as his final logo. He did ask if i could lengthen the word Korupt as it didn't quite fit the length of the K.

as for the webpage he wanted something more simple and elegant then a blocky information hungry home page.  which gave me the idea for the current one.

2nd Meeting

I Showed the Client (Jarrod) the web version of the logo and the new webpage. I also showed him the start of the 3D promotional Product which he liked. With the products he gave me a high amount of creative freedom which I believe helped with the per-swaying of an idea.

Kidsons Work

For the Kidson’s Project I had done the following:
- Created one of the final two chosen logos by the group and client,
- Created the template for the jersey and shorts and handed it out to the Team    Assigned to Create the Jersey.
- Created a Jersey and shorts Design.
- Created the shorts template being displayed on the virtual model displayed in the presentation.

Kidsons Project

I like this logo because it has a simple look and can be used with and without the text. It has used simple shapes and colouring to make the logo stand out but to also keep it from being overpowering.
.                                                                                                                                            .
I like the logo for "webpros" because it shows a techie feel which describes the business. It also uses colour to distinguish between the 2 words and uses 2 simple shapes to make up the compete logo.

.                                                                                                                                            .
I like this logo for FineTuneMusic as it also has a very minimal appearance. It uses a soundwave to link the u and n together which is very creative.

.                                                                                                                                            .
The following logo appeals to me because of the use of a not so literal meaning. It uses a gear instead of a bike or wheel to shop the idea for a bike store. It is also called GEARS which would have something to do with the use of a gear. but the theory of using a non-literal logo appeals to me.

.                                                                                                                                            .
I like the logo for "Chain Reaction Cycles" because like the above it has a less literal meaning. The use of the bike cog still says bike but its not as forthcoming as a bike wheel or cyclist.

What not to do.

2nd Client Work

Today we had to write down
a business we believe to find boring
a business we find OK.
and a business we believe to be AWSOME!!

Then we handed the all into luke. picked a number and got one back from another student.

I got Tristan's.

He had
Boring : Coaching - Sport 'n' Sweat Coaching
OK : Teaching      - Teachers Teaching Teachers
AWSOME : Game Development - Trident

For each of the three i have to create a
- Logo
- With Compliment Slip
- LetterHead

then for each we have to pick one of the below and create it along with the 3 above.
- A3 Promotional Poster
- A5 Promotional Flyer
- 3D Point of sale device
- Swing Tag
- Fridge Magnet
- Bookmark

Rapid Logo Study - Trident Grill

Here is my logo done today in the rapid logo study The design is fairly bland but i struggled to think of what to do with it. I went for a double end'd Trident for both the T's. then used a hot red and orange colour scheme to promote the grilled feeling.

Children's Map

Here is my Final Children's Map.
The colour is a tad lighter then the original but it still looks just as good.

Business stationary Critque

- Put name on business Card
- Logo was to big on Hoot Kidswear Letterhead
- Spacing of the details text on the business card back's (mango and Smith & Jones Lawyers)

Perspective Tool

Using the tutorial on THIS website we had to create the following
im fairly happy with the outcome and learnt about opacity masks and a bit more about the perspective tool.

Rapid Logo Study - PIP Squeaks

Here is my Logo from todays class. the idea was to use balloons to make the letters for the main title "Pip Squeaks" then a basic font for the "Kids play centre". the idea and concept was there in my head but i had a hard time trying to show it through the pencil and paper.
The winning logo's are from Tania and katelyn.
Tania's had a very simplistic and minimal feel which i liked. it also had that childcare feel which made it applicable.
Katelyn had standing out colour and a playful feel. the logo itself works in both black and white and colour.
